The old attage buyer beware, has an anology on the Internet, user beware. Privacy policies are not all the same, in fact they are strikingly different, not only from one website to the next, but in particular, from one job board to the next.

Nearly all websites have a privacy policy, and in most cases it is written in quite lengthy leagalease, and requires a lawyer to understand what it says. An Nurse-Recruiter.com our privacy policy is simple and has set a new standard among job boards. In fact, many of our competitiors have changed thier policies to match ours.

Of course we recommend that you become familiar with the privacy policy of any website before you send them information about yourself. But there are also some tell-tale ways you can tell if a job board might be selling your personal information. Here a couple of things to look for:

  • Registration - as hard as it is for me to believe, there are still job boards that require job seekers to register before they can view the jobs. This is a big warning sign that the website is selling user information to not only employers but credit card companies, and any one else that's willing to pay for a copy of the database. I have always recommended that people do not use a job board that requires registration.

  • When you find a job you like and you have to use the job boards resume or online registration form in order to respond to the position. A job board that does not allow advertisers to post their phone numbers, website and e-mail addresses, is likely trying to bolster their database for sales purposes. Again, make sure you check this type of job board's privacy policy very closely.

Now of course I don't mean that every job board that has a practice similar to either of the two examples above is going to automatically sell your information, but it should be a red flag.

At Nurse-Recruiter.com one of our founding principals was and is that nurses should be able to search for and apply for jobs using the Internet without compromising their privacy. We are proud of the reputation we have among our professional colleagues on this issue.

In fact we go beyond just promising not to ever sell your information to third parties. We have built-in a capability for you to add your resume to our database and make it invisible to employers that are doing searches on our site. Nurses can use any and all of the services at Nurse-Recruiter.com and can be comfortable that they are in charge of who gets their information and if their resume is available for our advertisers. We set set a new standard in privacy among job boards We are pleased to note that many job boards have changed their policies to be more in line with our core privacy value.
